About us
FIRST Team 1305 is a community based team. We work as a team of students and volunteer mentors to compete in FIRST robotics competitions. Our team was founded in 2000 with a vision to empower students through hands-on STEM experiences. Since our inception, we have grown into a thriving team known for our creativity, perseverance, and community spirit. Over the years, we have competed in numerous local, provincial, and international events, earning accolades for our engineering excellence, innovative designs, and gracious professionalism. Our history is marked by a continuous drive to improve, adapt, and inspire the next generation of leaders and innovators.
Team Name Origins
Team 1305 goes by many names but we are a single unified team
FIRST Team 1305 - Number assigned to us by FIRST upon inception
Near North Student Robotics Initiative (NNSRI) - The team represents an entire region, not just one school or group and this name highlights we are a community based team.
Ice3 - In our rookie season (2000) at the World Championship we were awarded the Judges’ Award. During the ceremony, the judges teasingly said that we were “from near the North Pole.” We embraced the coolness and became Ice Cubed. We choose to use a "3" instead of the word "cubed" to celebrate our three way (cubed) partnership between our team, our community and FIRST.
